Quality control of sterilization

Every patient who seeks medical care, regardless of their profile, strives to receive high-quality and safe treatment for their health.

High-quality sterilization of instruments is extremely important for providing high-quality treatment.

At iStomatolog, all necessary stages of sterilization are carried out in accordance with Order No. 552 of the Ministry of Health dated August 11, 2014, "On Approval of State Sanitary Norms and Rules for Disinfection, Pre-Sterilization Cleaning, and Sterilization of Medical Devices in Healthcare Institutions."

Stage I - Disinfection

This is a complex of measures aimed at destroying pathogenic microorganisms and conditionally pathogenic microorganisms such as viruses, fungi, and bacteria.

All surfaces of dental instruments and equipment that had direct contact during treatment are subject to disinfection. The main preparations we use are Bacilol AF, Bactident Plus, and Microbak Forte. In the dental office, we use bactericidal ultraviolet lamps to disinfect the air, which we turn on for 30 minutes before starting work and after the end of the shift. Under the influence of UV radiation, ozone is formed in the air, which is a strong oxidizer and has a harmful effect on microorganisms.

Stage II - Pre-sterilization cleaning (PSC)

The aim of this stage is to fully clean the instruments from protein, fat, and mechanical contamination, as well as residues of medicinal preparations. Pre-sterilization cleaning is carried out manually and mechanically.

• PSC is carried out manually by soaking the instruments in a disinfectant solution, such as Korzolex, Aerodizin, Famidez Forte, Dezaktin, Rotasept, or 6% hydrogen peroxide solution.
• PSC is carried out mechanically using an ultrasonic bath, which promotes more intensive cleaning of instruments made not only of metal but also glass and plastic.

The advantage of using an ultrasonic bath is that cleaning is carried out using cavitation of the disinfectant solution. The small size of the cavitation bubbles allows for the cleaning of rough surfaces, blind holes, and hard-to-reach areas.

Stage III Sterilization

This is the final stage of processing instruments before their use. It is carried out with a thermal sterilizer, where hot air sterilization takes place, and an autoclave, where steam sterilization takes place.

We prefer the steam sterilization method because of its advantages, which include the possibility of sterilizing heat-sensitive items at a temperature above the boiling point of water.

To ensure accurate control of the sterilization of items, each instrument is individually packaged in special sterilization pouches with indicators of processing quality. Thus, after the autoclaving cycle is completed, the color of the indicators changes, indicating the proper completion of the sterilization stages. After this, the instruments are ready for use.

We care not only about the health of patients and medical personnel, but also about the environment. All used inventory is subject to disinfection, sorting, and further disposal.
